Have I got a few little tidbits for you all in this week’s edition of The Gushing Cinephile! But before that, please remember to vote for the best films of 2013 in the “vote” section in the main menu. Now, onto the post!
First Look:
Wally Pfister’s secretive “Transcendence” finally released a few images featuring its starry cast. Johnny Depp, Rebecca Hall, and Cillian Murphy take centre stage in the images below. If you’re not familiar with Pfister, it might interest you to know that he is an Oscar winning cinematographer and has worked with Christopher Nolan as such on a majority of his biggest projects.
The much anticipated sequel to “The Trip” starring Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon, “The Trip to Italy,” unveiled its first official images this past week. Check them out below!
“I Origins,” the follow up to “Another Earth” for duo Mike Cahill and Brit Marling gave us a brief look into their intriguing, complex sci-fi flick. You’ll find a couple of awesome images below.
Posters:
“Interstellar”
“Big Bad Wolves”
“Nymphomaniac”
Home Video:
One of my favourite horrors of the year is finally coming to Bluray. On January 7, 2014, be sure to pick up “We Are What We Are” and give it a look. You can check out our review here!
Casting:
Gal Gadot has been officially cast as Wonder Woman in the upcoming Justice League film…sorry, I mean “Batman vs Superman” flick. Regardless of whatever it’s called, I’m officially content with the decision to cast her, seeing as I’m in love with her.
Ben Foster, one of the most underused and under-appreciated actors working today looks to have finally found his break-out role to the mainstream having been cast in Duncan Jones upcoming epic “Warcraft,” based on the highly successful video game series.
Trailers:
“Godzilla”
This trailer is really quite stunning, but I have to say that I still prefer the teaser released at San Diego comic-con this past year. Nonetheless, the thunderstorm free fall scene is incredibly amazing and the monster itself is intimidating to say the least. “Godzilla” is directed by Gareth Edwards and stars Bryan Cranston, Elizabeth Olsen, and Aaron Taylor Johnson. It’s set for release early in 2014. You can check out the trailer below.
“Interstellar”
Christopher Nolan’s upcoming sci-fi epic “Interstellar” released a brief teaser to be played before “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.” Starring Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, and Casey Affleck, “Interstellar” tells the tale of a group of explores who use a newly discovered wormhole to test the limitations of humanity and travel. Keep in mind, it is a brief teaser and it’s still a year away from release, so don’t expect too much original content. That being said, the voice over and its atmosphere is infinitely epic.
“Big Bad Wolves”
One of the best flicks of the year has released one of the best trailers of the year this past week. Check out the awesome, malicious trailer below and our review by clicking here.
Well, that’ll do it for this week’ sedition of The Gushing Cinephile, I hope you all enjoyed it!
